Monitor Instagram mentions for any handle
Type a handle and the words people use about it. We search the handle as a hashtag, read its tagged tab and search each keyword, and hand you the posts and the accounts that made them. Then we keep watching it.
Why a keyword finds more than a handle
Most people talking about a brand never tag it. They name the product, or they quote the line off the can, and a monitor watching only the handle sees none of it. That is the gap the keywords field exists for: one word goes in as a hashtag, and anything with a space in it is searched as a phrase, which is the search that reaches a caption nobody tagged.
The result says which term found each post, because the two are not the same evidence. Somebody who typed your hashtag meant to reach you. Somebody whose caption contains your product name may not have known you exist.
What a run gives you, and what it does not
The posts, the accounts that made them, the date each was taken, and a count per term. Every figure is a count of posts we are holding.
There is no reach figure, no impressions estimate and no share of voice. We do not measure any of those, and a followers times posts number is a guess with a decimal point on it. Values nobody measured render as a dash, here and everywhere else on the site.
Brands we already watch, with no sign-in
The full database →855 brands are collected on a schedule rather than on demand, so their pages carry a mention feed, follower history, what people say about them and where they rank in their category. Those are free to read and need no account. A monitor run is for the handle that is not one of them yet.
Track a hashtag instead, if the subject is a tag rather than an account. Pricing covers what changes when we watch a handle every day and email you the mentions as they appear.
FAQ
How do I monitor Instagram mentions of my brand?
Type the handle into the box above and add the keywords people actually use about you, up to 5. One run searches the handle as a hashtag, reads the account's tagged tab, and searches each keyword, then gives you the posts and the accounts that made them. A single word is searched as a hashtag; two or more words are searched as a phrase, which is how you catch the posts that talk about a brand without tagging it.
What counts as a mention here?
A public Instagram post that our searches matched: the handle used as a hashtag, a post that tagged the account, or a caption containing a keyword you gave us. Every post is stored with the term that found it, so you can tell a post somebody hashtagged on purpose from a caption that happened to contain the words. Those are different evidence and the result says which is which.
Why does a run cost points?
Each search is a live call, so a run is priced before you press anything: one point for the account, one for its hashtag, one for its tagged tab, and one per keyword. 20 points a day per account. Running the same monitor again the same day costs nothing, because the questions were already asked and paid for, so you can refresh it as often as you like.
Do I need an account?
For a run, yes, and a Google sign-in is the whole of it. There is no password and no card. The brand pages are free to read without one: 855 brands with mention feeds, follower history and category rankings, and none of it asks who you are.
What is the difference between this and the brand pages?
Who chooses the subject, and how long you wait. A brand page covers an account we collect on a schedule, so it has a history behind it and reads a fortnight behind on a public page. This runs now, on a handle nobody has asked us about before, and hands you what it found immediately. Once you have run it we keep watching that handle, so the second visit has a history the first one did not.
Can I monitor a competitor rather than my own brand?
Yes, and it is the more common use. Nothing here needs you to own the account: everything searched is public, the same posts anybody can see by typing the hashtag themselves. What you get is all of them at once, with who posted them and when.
How far back does a run go?
As far as Instagram returns for each search, which is recent rather than historical and varies by term. There is no backfill and no estimated history anywhere on this site. If you need a run of dates you can read a campaign off, that comes from us watching the handle from now on, which starts the moment you run it.
