What does the brand hashtag tracker actually count?
Posts. Every number on a tag page is a count of Instagram posts we hold under that hashtag, with the date each was taken. There is no reach figure and no impressions estimate, because we do not measure either and a number nobody measured is a guess with a decimal point on it.
Which hashtags can I look up for free?
The ones we already watch. Every brand in the catalogue has a hashtag under continuous collection, and each has its own page with post counts, the creators posting, and a 30 day history. Those answer for anyone, with no account.
What happens when I search a hashtag you do not track?
We go and look, and then we keep watching it. That costs a live search, so it needs a Google sign-in and is capped at 5 new hashtags a day per account. You get the posts immediately; the tag's own page fills in once they clear the public delay.
How far behind is the data?
Public pages run fourteen days behind. A subscribed brand reads live. That is the same rule everywhere on this site, and it is why a hashtag you looked up this morning shows its posts in the result but not yet on its page.
Can I track a hashtag over time?
Yes, and that is the part a one-off search cannot do. Once a hashtag is on the list it is collected on a schedule, so the daily counts build into a history you can read a campaign off. A tag looked up once and never again is a screenshot.
