Which brands do ChatGPT and Gemini recommend?

Every month we ask both assistants the questions a shopper asks, like “What are the best coffee brands?”, for 151 categories and subcategories. Each page lists the brands they named, in order, with the date. Answers change from run to run, so read each one as what a shopper heard that day.

Which brands do AI assistants recommend?

It depends on the question and on the day. We ask ChatGPT and Gemini three shopper questions for every category and subcategory in our catalogue, once a month, and publish the brands each one named in the order it named them, with the date it was asked.

How do you ask the assistants?

With the same wording every month, typed the way a shopper would type it, for example "What are the best coffee brands?". Web search is on, because that is how both assistants answer shopping questions. No account history and no location are attached.

Why does my brand not appear?

An assistant names a handful of brands per answer, usually the ones most written about online. A brand missing from a list was not named in that answer on that day. The answers change between runs and between people, so one month is a reading, not a verdict.

Is this a ranking or a score?

No. Each list is one answer to one question on one date. The only totals we show are counts of how many answers named a brand.
