The 20 most mentioned brands on Instagram right now

These are the 20 most mentioned consumer retail and D2C brands on Instagram across the 855 we track, counted by public posts that name the brand in the last 30 days, including the ones that never tag the account.

Generated, not written. This table is read from the same mention counts the brand pages show, and stays current. Nobody picks who is on it. A brand we have not collected mentions for yet is absent rather than listed at zero. Those are different statements, and the second one would be a claim we cannot support.

What the list shows

Caraway leads with 79 mentions in the last 30 days. Between them the 20 brands above account for 764 posts, spread across 9 categories: Home, Food and Beverage, Beauty, Automotive, Pet, Sporting Goods, Retail, Fashion, Luxury.

Read it with one caveat. Mention volume follows audience size, so a large brand out-mentions a smaller one almost by default, and a ranking by raw count is partly a ranking by how big everyone already is. The number worth watching is mentions relative to reach. A brand punching above its follower count is one people genuinely talk about rather than one that is merely large. Every profile page shows engagement against its category median next to the raw count for exactly that reason.

How the mentions are counted

A mention is a public Instagram post that names the brand, found by hashtag and keyword rather than by notification. That distinction is the whole point: notifications only fire on an @-mention, which is the minority of brand conversation, so any count built on tags alone understates every brand here.

Brands somebody is monitoring are measured more often than the rest, so their figures are shown 14 days behind on public pages, this one included. No brand can climb this table simply by being watched.

This post counts mentions per brand. To see the mentions themselves, the board of trending brand mentions on Instagram puts one row per post and ranks by the engagement each gained over the week, which surfaces the creators driving a brand's week rather than the brands with the biggest back catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a mention on Instagram?

A public post that names the brand, by hashtag or by keyword in the caption, whether or not it tags the account. That last part matters: @-mentions are the minority of brand conversation, so a count based only on tags understates every brand on this list.

How is this list calculated?

Mentions collected over a trailing 30-day window, counted per brand across the 855 consumer retail and D2C brands we track, and ranked. Nothing is weighted, estimated or editorially adjusted. Brands we have not collected mentions for yet are absent rather than shown as zero, because those are different statements.

How often does this list change?

Continuously, as new mentions are counted. Monitored brands are shown publicly 14 days behind, so the ranking moves at the speed of what has been measured rather than in real time.

Does the most mentioned brand win?

Not on its own. Volume follows size, and a large brand will out-mention a smaller one almost by default. The interesting number is mentions relative to audience. A brand punching above its follower count is a brand people actually talk about, which is why every profile page shows engagement against its category median next to the raw count.

How do I track mentions of my own brand?

Every brand we track has a free public page with its mention count on it, no account needed. Subscribing to a brand puts it under daily collection, removes the public delay, and sends the mentions to you by email as they are found.
