Instagram algorithm
The set of ranking systems Instagram uses to decide which posts each person sees, and in what order.
There is no single algorithm. Feed, Stories, Explore, and Reels rank separately and weight signals differently, which is why the same post can perform well in one surface and disappear in another.
The signals it can observe are broadly the same ones you can: how many people who saw a post engaged with it, how quickly, and how strong their prior relationship with the account was. Optimising for those is durable; optimising for a rumoured tweak is not.
