The main Notifier alternatives are Alertmouse, Brand24, Mentionlytics, Awario, BrandMentions and Google Alerts, along with Monitor Mentions. Notifier is mention alerts, covering reddit, Instagram, YouTube, Google, blogs. Which replacement fits depends on which part of that you were actually using.
We are one of the options on this page. Monitor Mentions is our product, it is listed with the others rather than given the top spot, and its scope is stated plainly: Instagram and AI assistants, nothing else. There is a section below on when Notifier is still the right answer, because a comparison that cannot recommend staying is an advert.
No price snapshots. Every tool here gets a category band and a link, not a “from $X a month”. We have not verified any vendor's current pricing, and a price is the detail a reader acts on most directly. The same rule that keeps an em dash rather than an estimate on every brand page we publish.
Why teams look for a Notifier alternative
- An alert feed with nothing underneath it: no history, no benchmark, no way to tell a busy week from a normal one.
None of these make Notifier a bad product. They are the trade-offs it has chosen, and they are only problems if they are your problems.

The alternatives in detail
Alertmouse
Alertmouse is a mention-tracking tool built by Rand Fishkin and a Seattle team, positioned squarely as the Google Alerts replacement: exact-phrase matching, keyword filters, and site blocking to cut the noise.
Where it wins: Breadth and filtering. If you want to know every time your name appears anywhere on the web and you want real control over which results reach your inbox, that is what it is built for, and by people with a long track record in this space.
Best for: You need mentions across the whole web: press, blogs, forums, several social networks, and filtering the firehose is the actual problem you have. (Low monthly subscription) Alertmouse vs Monitor Mentions →
Brand24
Brand24 is a well-established media monitoring tool that collects mentions across social and the open web with sentiment scoring and reporting.
Where it wins: Mature, reliable, and priced for small and mid-sized teams. Strong at catching mentions across a wide spread of sources including podcasts and newsletters.
Best for: You want general-purpose media monitoring across many channels with a familiar dashboard and solid reporting. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Brand24 vs Monitor Mentions →
Mentionlytics
Mentionlytics tracks mentions of a brand and its competitors across social platforms and the wider web, adding sentiment, share of voice, and reach reporting on top of the raw feed.
Where it wins: A well-rounded mid-market listening tool: multi-language sentiment, competitor share of voice, and agency-friendly reporting, without enterprise pricing or a procurement process.
Best for: You want one dashboard covering several networks plus the open web, with sentiment and share-of-voice charts you can put in a client report. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Mentionlytics vs Monitor Mentions →
Awario
Awario is a social listening tool covering social networks and the wider web, with sentiment analysis and lead-finding features.
Where it wins: Solid boolean search and a well-regarded lead-generation angle, finding conversations where someone is asking for a product like yours.
Best for: You want broad listening with sophisticated boolean queries across many sources. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Awario vs Monitor Mentions →
BrandMentions
BrandMentions tracks mentions of your brand across the web and social platforms, with sentiment analysis and competitor tracking.
Where it wins: Wide source coverage for the price, and genuinely useful if you need to catch mentions on the open web, news sites, and forums as well as social.
Best for: Your brand gets talked about across blogs, news, and forums, and you want one alert feed covering all of it. (Tens to low hundreds per month) BrandMentions vs Monitor Mentions →
Google Alerts
Google Alerts emails you when a phrase you have chosen shows up on a page Google has indexed. It has been free and effectively unchanged for years, and it is where almost everyone starts.
Where it wins: It is free, it takes thirty seconds to set up, and for catching the occasional news article or blog post that names your brand, it is genuinely fine. If that is the whole job, do not pay anyone for it.
Best for: You want an occasional heads-up when your brand appears in press coverage, and you are not trying to measure anything. (Free) Google Alerts vs Monitor Mentions →
Monitor Mentions
Monitor Mentions tracks 855 consumer retail and D2C brands on one source, covered properly: public Instagram posts that mention a brand, including the majority that never tag the account, each one with the creator who posted it.
Where it wins: Narrow on purpose, and priced accordingly. Every tracked brand has a free public page with its numbers on it, so you can check what you would be buying before you buy anything.
Best for: Instagram is where your category's conversation happens, and you want the numbers underneath a mention rather than only the alert. ($49/year per brand, or $79 once for lifetime)
When Notifier is still the right answer
You want a lightweight alert feed spanning Reddit, YouTube, and Google as well as Instagram. If that is a fair description of your team, a cheaper tool will not save you money. It will remove coverage you were using and you will buy something else in six months. Simple, affordable, and good at the specific job of catching untagged mentions across a spread of platforms: especially Reddit.
The switch is worth making when you can name the one thing you actually open it for. If that thing is a single channel, a focused tool goes deeper on it for a fraction of the price. If it is everything, stay.
How to choose
Before booking demos, write down the last three times you needed this tool and what you did with the answer. Most teams find the list is shorter and narrower than the platform they are paying for. Then:
— Budget was the problem. Look at the mid-market and free options above, and accept that coverage narrows with the price.
— Nobody had time to run it. The fix is a simpler product, not a cheaper one. The tools here that need query building will fail the same way.
— It missed the channel that matters. Buy for that channel. A tool watching forty sources treats yours as one of forty.
— Instagram is that channel, and you want the posts that never tag you. That is the gap we built for.
A practical test that beats any comparison table, this one included: run two trials in parallel on the same brand and the same keywords for a week. The one that surfaces things you actually act on wins.
Public brand pages are free to read without an account. A subscription is $49/year per brand and is what puts a brand under daily collection, removing the 14-day delay on the public view. Full pricing →
