5 Social Blade alternatives for consumer retail and D2C brands

The main Social Blade alternatives are Socialinsider, Iconosquare, Keyhole and Brand24, along with Monitor Mentions. Social Blade is public social statistics, covering youTube, Instagram, TikTok, Twitch and more. Which replacement fits depends on which part of that you were actually using.

We are one of the options on this page. Monitor Mentions is our product, it is listed with the others rather than given the top spot, and its scope is stated plainly: Instagram and AI assistants, nothing else. There is a section below on when Social Blade is still the right answer, because a comparison that cannot recommend staying is an advert.

No price snapshots. Every tool here gets a category band and a link, not a “from $X a month”. We have not verified any vendor's current pricing, and a price is the detail a reader acts on most directly. The same rule that keeps an em dash rather than an estimate on every brand page we publish.

Why teams look for a Social Blade alternative

  • Follower counts and little else: no engagement benchmarking, no mentions, no category context.

None of these make Social Blade a bad product. They are the trade-offs it has chosen, and they are only problems if they are your problems.

The alternatives in detail

Socialinsider

Socialinsider focuses on competitive analytics and benchmarking across the major social networks, with an API and reporting for agencies.

Where it wins: Genuinely strong benchmarking across multiple networks at once, with an API and white-label reporting that agencies value.

Best for: You benchmark clients across several networks and need multi-platform reports in one place. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Socialinsider vs Monitor Mentions →

Iconosquare

Iconosquare is an analytics platform with strong Instagram roots, offering account analytics, scheduling, and competitor tracking.

Where it wins: Deep analytics for accounts you own, including reach, impressions, story performance, and best-time-to-post: first-party metrics we cannot see from outside.

Best for: You manage your own Instagram account and want private, first-party analytics that only the account owner can access. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Iconosquare vs Monitor Mentions →

Keyhole

Keyhole specialises in hashtag and campaign tracking, reporting reach and impressions for specific campaigns across social platforms.

Where it wins: Purpose-built for campaign reporting: if you need to prove the reach of a specific hashtag campaign over a fixed window, that is exactly what it does.

Best for: You run hashtag campaigns and need campaign-level reach and impression reporting to show a client. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Keyhole vs Monitor Mentions →

Brand24

Brand24 is a well-established media monitoring tool that collects mentions across social and the open web with sentiment scoring and reporting.

Where it wins: Mature, reliable, and priced for small and mid-sized teams. Strong at catching mentions across a wide spread of sources including podcasts and newsletters.

Best for: You want general-purpose media monitoring across many channels with a familiar dashboard and solid reporting. (Tens to low hundreds per month) Brand24 vs Monitor Mentions →

Monitor Mentions

Monitor Mentions tracks 855 consumer retail and D2C brands on one source, covered properly: public Instagram posts that mention a brand, including the majority that never tag the account, each one with the creator who posted it.

Where it wins: Narrow on purpose, and priced accordingly. Every tracked brand has a free public page with its numbers on it, so you can check what you would be buying before you buy anything.

Best for: Instagram is where your category's conversation happens, and you want the numbers underneath a mention rather than only the alert. ($49/year per brand, or $79 once for lifetime)

When Social Blade is still the right answer

You need many years of historical data for a large creator account and are happy reading it from a public chart. If that is a fair description of your team, a cheaper tool will not save you money. It will remove coverage you were using and you will buy something else in six months. An enormous historical archive going back years for the accounts it tracks, and free public pages: the closest thing the space has to a public record.

The switch is worth making when you can name the one thing you actually open it for. If that thing is a single channel, a focused tool goes deeper on it for a fraction of the price. If it is everything, stay.

How to choose

Before booking demos, write down the last three times you needed this tool and what you did with the answer. Most teams find the list is shorter and narrower than the platform they are paying for. Then:

Budget was the problem. Look at the mid-market and free options above, and accept that coverage narrows with the price.
Nobody had time to run it. The fix is a simpler product, not a cheaper one. The tools here that need query building will fail the same way.
It missed the channel that matters. Buy for that channel. A tool watching forty sources treats yours as one of forty.
Instagram is that channel, and you want the posts that never tag you. That is the gap we built for.

A practical test that beats any comparison table, this one included: run two trials in parallel on the same brand and the same keywords for a week. The one that surfaces things you actually act on wins.

Public brand pages are free to read without an account. A subscription is $49/year per brand and is what puts a brand under daily collection, removing the 14-day delay on the public view. Full pricing →

Questions

What are the best Social Blade alternatives?

Socialinsider, Iconosquare, Keyhole and Brand24, plus Monitor Mentions. Which one fits depends on what made you look: budget, the channels you need covered, or how much of the tool you would actually use. There is no single replacement, because Social Blade bundles several jobs and most alternatives do one of them well.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Social Blade?

Almost certainly, but cheaper usually means narrower. The honest question is which part of Social Blade you were actually using. If the answer is one channel, a focused tool costs a fraction as much and goes deeper on it. If the answer is everything, the saving will come with a real reduction in coverage.

When should I stay with Social Blade?

When this still describes you: you need many years of historical data for a large creator account and are happy reading it from a public chart. Switching to save money and then discovering you needed the coverage is more expensive than the renewal.

Why is Monitor Mentions on its own list?

Because we built the page, and pretending otherwise would be worse. We are listed with the others rather than at the top, our scope is stated plainly, Instagram, nothing else, and there is a section above on when Social Blade is still the better choice. $49/year per brand, or $79 once for lifetime, with the price on the page.

Do these tools cover Instagram mentions that do not tag the account?

That varies, and it is worth asking each vendor directly. Tag-based notifications only fire on an @-mention, which is the minority of conversation. The rest is captions naming the brand and hashtags used without a tag. It is the gap Monitor Mentions was built for, and the one broad tools tend to cover thinly because Instagram is one source among forty.

Every product above is described from its own public positioning. Follow each vendor for current features and pricing, that is the source of truth, and this page is not. Corrections are welcome at hello@monitormentions.com.
