How we counted
- What we search. For each brand, the posts that tag its Instagram account, along with its hashtags and, for the brands watched most, its name in captions. We keep public posts by other accounts.
- What counts as a mention here. Only a post that tags the brand's own account, in the post's tags or as an @mention in the caption. A hashtag on its own does not count, because many brand names are ordinary words. Posts by the brand itself do not count.
- How often. Brands a paying account monitors are searched daily; the rest weekly, every two weeks or monthly, depending on how closely they are watched. Posts published in October 2026 (UTC) and found before the month ended are counted. A post we find later is not added, so the figures on this page do not change after it is published.
- A sample, not a total. Each search returns a limited number of recent posts, so a busy brand is tagged far more often on Instagram than we count, and a brand searched daily shows more of its posts than one searched monthly. Read the ranking, the gaps and the change since September, not the totals. We read captions and tags, never audio or text inside a video. How we count.
- Brands. The 111 beverage brands on our beverages page. A brand we do not track is not in the ranking. The comparison with September only includes brands we were collecting for the whole of both months.
- Accounts named. Creators are listed only after two or more tagged posts found, and only by handle and count. We do not quote anyone's posts.
